Description: Offered for your consideration is a vintage Coca-Cola Model No. 1989 Coke machine-shaped AM/FM radio, manufactured in 1989. No box or papers are included, just the radio, as pictured. This Coca-Cola-licensed radio features a sturdy red and black plastic enclosure that measures 7 7/16” by 3 3/16” by 1⅞”. It has a single wide-range speaker facing rearwards. So, please see my large photos and read the remaining description to decide if this Coca-Cola radio should be yours. This Coke machine radio is in clean, excellent physical condition. The enclosure looks great with no dings, cracks, or scratches, just some practically invisible marks from use and handling over the years. Plus, the controls actuate smoothly. Also, the battery compartment is spotless and I installed four (4) new Duracell AA’s for the buyer’s convenience and savings. For being some 35 years old, this radio is in remarkably well-preserved shape. I tested this Coke radio recently and it is working. However, FM stations are hard to tune-in precisely with the little thumb-wheel and only an internal antenna, at least at the 40 mile distance I live from downtown Chicago broadcasts. There is also some static, which may be from my poor reception or the on-off/volume wheel, I’m not certain? If the volume control is indeed the source of static, it should work itself out with regular use (which this radio hadn’t seen in over 30 years). In any event, this is a novelty radio for the Coke lover to mainly display, not a device for listening to music in high fidelity.
