Up for sale is a very nice set of books titled: THE WORKS OF CHARLES DICKENS! This set is SIX (6) antique volumes that were published by P. F. Collier. The books were published in the Nineteenth Century. This set consists of Volumes 1 through 6, it is the complete set. I get the publication date 1870 from the date on the frontispiece of Volume One and Volume Three (see photo). The original owner neatly wrote her name, her hometown (Portland, Maine) and June, 1887 on the front endpaper of each volume. I acquired this nice set of antique books from the library of a private estate. They were on a shelf in this library for decades. This is a nice set of antique Dickens books. CONDITION: Each of these antique books are complete and intact, in good condition as evidenced by the photos. The hardback front covers and spines are embossed and feature nice graphics in gold gilt. The back covers are also embossed. The covers are in good condition with some age-expected edge and corner wear. The inside covers of each book are in good condition with some cracking and separation at the hinges. The covers are attached to the binding for each book. The binding is tight on all books The pages are in good to very good condition, no foxing, the pages are crisp. All of the pages are tight to the binding with exception of the front endpaper in two of the volumes The pages have a red gilt on all of the edges. Each of the books' spines are in good condition with some shelf wear at both the top and bottom edges, one volume's spine has some wear.
