Description: Famed TEXAS HATTERS "Lone Star Dame" BEAVER Hat Original Owner ~ A Personal Gift from Willie Nelson This is a custom hat order created in 1977 by famed Texas Hatter, Manny Gammage of Austin, Texas.This is a Small hat. Light Gray in color. It measures 20.5 inches inside the brim. Be sure and measure head size before purchasing.This hat is clean and has seldom been worn. The original personalized Lone Star Beer leather hatband has been replaced with a belt-style band.The "Made Especially For" inside brim was only printed on beaver hats of Texas Hatters' Lone Star line. There are some tiny silverfish divots on the brim due to age. Otherwise, this beautiful hat with special provenance is clean and in very well preserved condition. No sweat marks whatsoever.(I just met a Santa Fe hatter who was putting fake sweat marks on a customer's new hat. So, for that special LOOK, it can be done!) NOTE--The following quote comes directly from Texas Hatters regarding this particular collectible hat:The price for a new beaver hat today would be $850. The cost to completely renovate (dry clean, re-block, new leather and lining) and resize the hat would be $125. The cost to re-block it to a larger size without cleaning would be $85 and would include a new leather sweatband and satin lining inside.Please ask any questions you may have. Or confer with Texas Hatters. They are very helpful! • Despite the small sizing, it can be altered for a reasonable cost. Check with a hatter or contact Texas Hatters in Austin for their expert advise.
