Past Patterns 0106 - 1900s Straight Fronted Corset Pattern bust sizes 32-48

Description: Past Patterns PP#0106Early 1900s straight Fronted Corset Sewing Pattern This Early 1900s Straight Fronted Corset pattern is an original Past Patterns design ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The cut of the Early 1900s "Straight-Fronted" Corset is said to have been invented by Mme. Gaches-Sarrautes at the turn of the century. It was considered a "Health Corset" because it was designed not to compress the waist or chest. Despite Mme. Gaches-Sarrautes efforts to create a "Health Corset", women tightened the waist so much so that the health effects were lost. A terrific blog post on Sarrautes Corset can be found at https://thepragmaticcostumer.wordpress.com/2017/02/19/fashion-and-feminism-dr-ines-gaches-sarraute-and-the-hunt-for-a-healthful-corset/ The straight-fronted corset pattern from Past Patterns fastens in the front with a clasp/busk and adjusts in the back with laces. Before you wear the corset in public, please practice moving gracefully in it at home. Wear this with Past Patterns' item#0108 - Corset Cover, item#0117 - French Drawers and item#0107 - Edwardian Combination A review on constructing the garment with this pattern can be found at https://sewing.patternreview.com/review/pattern/182968 ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Sizes included in this pattern – 08-26 Bust Sizes 32 ½ “ – 48” Waist Sizes 24 ½ “- 40” Hips Sizes 34 ½ ” – 50” ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fabric Requirements using 45” wide Fabric: Sizes 08-14 1 1/2 Yds. We do this with the hope that people will start creating and wearing reproductions instead of antique originals. The clothes we wear and that our grandparents wore are part of our cultural history. Just as you would not abuse antiques furniture by cutting off decorative trim, so you should not abuse antique garments by wearing them. Our second goal is that you pick up a little bit of history when you sew the garment. The fit, the cut, the fasteners, the fabric design, just to mention a few things, are part to the technology of the time. Our third goal, in sewing the patterns, is to spark an interest in genealogy and local history. Researching local history is always a rewarding pursuit. SKU 0106 Thanks for looking!
