Description: JBL, vintage D130, AlNiCo V (alminum, nickel, cobalt) magnet, 15" extended range, all paper cone and surround, cast aluminum basket (frame), 4 in edgewound aluminum voice coil, all original, looks and sounds great . I tested the speaker with an ohm meter (see pic), and with my hi-fi amp and it sounded great. full bass, crisp highs, very efficient. there are 3 very small hairline cracks in the surrounds, (see pics). it took a flashlight behind the cone to see the small hairline cracks. I took pictures without back lighting and with back lighting. the pictures of the cracks are labled at 5 O'clock, 8 O'clock, and 11 O'clock according with their position on the speaker these cracks sould be repaired before playing full volume, or they could grow into larger crackes. I would use small tisssue paper with a thin flexible adhesive applying to the rear of the cone then dope the total surround to make it stronger and help prevent new cracks. the best thing would be to recone the speakerwith a JBL OEM recone kit, but they are no longer available from JBL, but there are aftermarket kits available. what I always liked about JBL speakers was they were the best sounding, the best materials and build , and totally rebuidable making them last forever! (as long as the kits are avalable) in the late1960s', I would buy reconed d130s' from one of the music stores, that sold amps and guitars, for $40-50 each speaker. I don't rermber having one reconed, just bought them refurbished with an OEM JBL cones + VC.
