Description: Interesting HUGE pair of solid silver menuki ( which are hilt ornaments ) with TSUME HORIMONO ( claw carving ) and cut out grooves ( in the shape and style of the famous 'HOCHO' tanto blade by one of the most famous wordsmiths 'MASAMUNE'. Please GOOGLE .... 'HOCHO MASAMUNE'.... and you will see the original blade which is in Japan and a National Treasure ). The menuki are very heavy and chunky ( not thin pressed sheet ) at approx 41.7 grams, and measure approx 78mm long ( over 3 inches ) and 13mm wide !!!............. I have partially polished them, which is acceptable on silver ( but not other Japanese antique metals ), they are still quite black and could be easily polished more with a little silver wadding !........................ ...They are a super pair and would look amazing mounted on a sword, or kept in a collection. They come in the cloth bag, as in the photo..............I bought a large collection of menuki and sword fittings, a number of years ago ( some with a large number of similar designs ) from an elderly collector. Some were old, some not so old, so I have listed these accordingly in my opinion, please judge from the photos..........PLEASE NOTE - ANYTHING IN THE BACKGROUND IS NOT INCLUDED, YOU ARE BIDDING ON THE TWO MENUKI AND THE COTTON BAG !!!.......................PLEASE NOTE EBAY - These are HILT ORNAMENTS, NOT SHARP, and NOT KNIVES therefore comply with the rules !
