The barrel channel is for a heavy tapered barrel that tapers from .920″ to .750″ at the muzzle. The stock can be used on a gun with a standard tapered barrel but there will be a small gap between the barrel and the stock. If used with a standard tapered barrel, the barrel will be free floating. It could also be used with a bull barrel if you opened up the barrel channel to .920″ all the way to the end.
