Description: Essays Of Michel De Montaigne Translated By Charles Cotton 1905 Three Volumes. Originally written in 1580s French, these are translated into English Montaigne wrote the essays as self expression and as a way of documenting French society of his time. He did not expect international acclaim. These three volumes are in great condition for their age The hardcover retains a sage green colour and the gilded lettering and decoration is bright. The spine is slightly darker which could be sun damage. There is minor shelf wear - slight crushing to the corners and rolling of the top/base of the spine but that is being quite hard on them! The binding is strong and all pages are intact The gilding on the top of the pages is still evident Inside, there is mild tanning and foxing but nothing to impair the reading experience Please see our photographs for further evidence of the book's condition Thank you for viewing our listing~ Hobo-reading-room We have further antique and vintage hardback books listed alongside quality paperbacks Add us to your saved sellers Seller's inventory: 00711
