Here we have a very attractive cut and polished half of an ammonite (3.40 inches diameter) that is late Jurassic (160 to 140 million years) from Mahajunga╕ Madagascar. This is an aesthetic fossil ammonite specimen. It is a nice looking display piece and the internal structures are clearly visible. The interior is made up of calcite colored by various iron compounds. The open chambers have sharply formed drusy calcite crystals).
