Description: This is a black 1995 ESP EXP Explorer with original hardshell ESP Case, made in Japan at EPS’s Custom Shop. It has a mahogany body, maple bolt on neck, rosewood fretboard, mother of pearl dot markers, 22 extra jumbo frets, original Gotoh tuners and all the original black chrome ESP hardware. The guitar originally came with EMG 81s in both positions. This style of guitar was made famous by James Hetfield of Metallica. This guitar is in excellent condition for a 29-year-old instrument. It was only minimally played and was never gigged. It has now been stored in its original case for over 15 years. As it is a black guitar, it does show some minor scratches and swirls but overall it is a 7/10 or 8/10. These “pre-lawsuit” Hetfield-favorite ESP Explorers are rare and collectable. Due to the rarity and discontinuation of traditional Gibson-style Explorers from ESP/Edwards in Japan and the gloss black MX style finish these guitars have been growing in value. Pre-lawsuit model and has the same body style to that of the ESP MX-250, with the main difference being the EXP is a bolt on neck instead of the set neck. Includes the original ESP hard case, however the outside of the case is pretty beat up (fair) condition. It was also repainted. In my opinion, the ESP EXP model is more rare than the ESP MX-250 because was produced only from 1992 to 2000 (8 YEARS) almost only for the worldwide market, the MX-250 was produced from 1991 to 2021 (30 YEARS), which means there are less EXP models available, especially in good condition.
