Description: This 5 7/8" x 4 1/8" postcard was produced in West Germany after the visit President John F. Kennedy made to Europe in 1963. That's the trip on which he made his famous appearance in West Berlin at the Berlin Wall and made the historic "Ich bin ein Berliner" speech. After this, he flew to Ireland for three days of work and exploring his family's famous Irish roots. We just listed a postcard which was printed in Dublin for distribution to commemorate that visit. After Ireland he went to London then flew off to Rome, Italy for an audience with Pope Paul VI. JFK was, of course, the first Roman Catholic elected President of the U.S., and these visits were just a few months before that fateful day in Dallas, Texas later in November. So, the West German government memorialized our President by renaming the plaza after him in West Berlin where his speech was made, and they did this only two days following his assassination. This postcard was sold at Tempelhof Airport to tourists travelling through showing an image of him and the square in front of the old City Hall. This is in nice condition but please look at our images to judge condition for yourself so you can be happy with your purchase. S & H on this will be $5.50 sent well-protected first class with tracking. We are members of APIC and sell only authentic presidential (and other collectible) material so buy with confidence, and we'll be happy to combine S & H costs on multiple purchases even though eBay says we won't. We just issue a refund for any overpayment. 7579
