Description: Circa 1862, 1/6 plate tintype behind mat and glass in full case. Soldier wearing a light colored shirt .. gray, or tan/brown? With what appears to be a corps badge or medal pinned in the middle. It's hard to see in my scan but the entire badge is definitely painted gold or silver, and has what looks like a small gold-painted piece that sticks out over the edge of his jacket. At his waistband I definitely see at least one weapon.. looks like the handle of a knife... and the glint of possibly another on his opposite side but it's not very detailed. Behind him is a painted scenic backdrop of what looks like a lake or shoreline scene. No ID or location, but the backdrop might help pin down the photographer. Nice image.... listing pic #1 a cell phone photo with flash, image 2 is a scan. In person this tintype should look at least as good as image 2 when viewed in proper lighting. In very good antique condition with oval shaped mat abrasions, but NO bends, and no issues in the main viewing area. The case is complete and intact with light wear and taped spine. Boxed & insured Priority Mail.
